The Black Holes and Revelations Tour was in support of the 4th Muse album Black Holes and Revelations. The tour lasted 2 years and at the time it was their longest ever tour. The black holes and revelations tour was announced in July 2006. The first show of the tour was when they played the Radio 1 big weekend in Dundee. Muse played other festivals including the Carling Reading Festival in August. The tour was truely global including shows in Europe, North America, Australia, Chine and Japan. They even played South East Asia with shows in Indonesia and Malaysia. This tour also saw them play in South America alos.
The band’s shows throughout the Black Holes and Revelations Tour became noted for their increasing usage of special effects. For their Carling Weekend shows the band used a display with neon tubes that had 10 smaller video screens in front, with 5 on the ground and 5 moving behind them. Smaller versions were used for other concerts on the 2006 European Festival circuit, plus on the first two US legs, the first Australian tour and the band’s South-East Asian tour.
The Band are known for their amazing stage sets. The set for this tour was bassed on the H.A.A.R.P. installation in Alaska. It included big light pylons and giant video screens at the back of the stage with visuals.
The band played EUropean Arenas and also a festival and stadium tour, and they also went on the Australia and Far East leg. They played the Big Day Out Festival 2007 in Australia. They then played South East Asia and their largest Japanese tour. They even played their first show in South Korea. The show piece shows of the tour were two sell out nights at new wembley stadium in London on 16 and 17 June 2007. They were the first band to play the new wembley stadium. The show had more special effect than other shows on the tour with futuristic antennas and sat dishes. The show was released on a live dvd.
Muse continued that summer playing shows around European during the summer music festival season big shows included Rock Werchter in Belgium and Benicassim Festival in Spain. They played memorable shows at the iconic Madison Square Gardens in New York City and also played at the Lollapalooza Festival 2007.
They then toured Easter Europe in October before going on a tour down under in Australia in November. They ended the year with shows in the US. They played less shows in 2008 but they did play gigs in Dubai and festivals in South Africa. They played the Teenage Cancer Trust Concert Series at the Royal Albert Hall in April 2008. They finished the tour in August 2008 by headlining the V Festival in August
